Leeanne Vazquez, UG at the Universidad de Puerto Rico and student in the MSU Bridge to PhD in Neurosciences Programs, gave a fantastic presentation on her lab research project. GS Abby Barrett was her daily supervisor and mentor over the summer.

PD Katie Yoest won a Travel Fellowship to attend the 2022 Winter Conference on Brain Research at the Viewline Snowmass Resort in Snowmass, Colorado. Congrats to Katie!

GS Samantha Bowden, GS Jessica Lee, GS Abby Barrett and PD Katie Yoest presented their research at the virtual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience.

Alexa Veenema served as Moderator for a Press Conference on Social Isolation organized by the Public Education and Communication Committee (PECC) of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN). The PECC guides SfN’s initiatives and programs centered on educating the public and neuroscience educators about neuroscience.

GS Jessica Lee presented her research at the 30th annual meeting of the International Society for Behavioral Neuroscience.

May 2021

Alexa Veenema gave a talk on Brain Mechanisms of Social Play at the MET conference Neuroscience and Theatre Therapy that took place as a hybrid meeting in Bucharest, Romania. The MET Conference is part of the project Developing a Methodology of Therapy Through Theatre with an Effect at the Neurochemical and Neurocognitive Levels.

UG Anna Luxhoj was awarded the 2021-2022 Dean’s Assistantship Scholarship providing funding to support her senior thesis research project studying the involvement of oxytocin in social play behavior. Congrats to Anna!

PD Christina Reppucci won another mentor award! She was awarded the 2021 Postdoctoral Excellence in Teaching and/or Mentoring Award. This award is administered and sponsored by the MSU Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, in partnership with the MSU Office of Research and Innovation, and applications are peer-reviewed by postdocs at MSU. UG Elie Huez won the first-place award for his research project presentation at the annual University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum organized by MSU that featured over 500 presentations. Congrats to Elie!

Christina was awarded the student-driven 2021 Undergraduate Supervisor of the Year Award by MSU. This award is presented annually and recognizes undergraduate research supervisors at MSU who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to mentoring undergraduate researchers. Congrats to Christina!
